Finally we made it to a milestone. Everything is glued up and ready for the final sanding and finishing. I had hoped to be completed by Thursday night, but it seem I'll only get to do a little sanding. The joints fit toghether better than I anticipated for a first time attempt. I've had difficulties with suppliers. The two local mills are either low on stock or are playing games with the price for lumber. I finally had to drive 50 miles to the next town to purchase materials. I had to settle on clear white pine. Cabinet grade. Here is the first photo from the shop. However, as there was a supply glitch obtaining some beech wood, I had to go with a 4/4 white oak. (BTW 4/4 simply means 1" thick whereas 5/4 is 1 1/4" and 8/4 would be 2" thick)Early next week look good for the table coming together. It has been commissioned by a private individual, but I doubt he will mind the progress being posted as it comes together.</span><br /> <span style="font-family: verdana;">The wood we selected is Beech.
