All glued up!

Whew! Finally we made it to a milestone. Everything is glued up and ready for the final sanding and finishing. I had hoped to be completed by Thursday night, but it seem I'll only get to do a little sanding. The joints fit toghether better than I anticipated for a first time attempt. Some better quality final photos should be posted early to middle of next week.

Almost there.

Latest photos. One more piece to make.

Finally I get to do some glue up. I know this before and after doesn't look like much now but hopefully that will change in a drastic way. Due to lack of space and clamps, this process will take at least 4 days. You know what to do, stay tuned.....

Sorry for the delay folks. I've had difficulties with suppliers. The two local mills are either low on stock or are playing games with the price for lumber. I finally had to drive 50 miles to the next town to purchase materials. I had to settle on clear white pine. Cabinet grade. Here is the first photo from the shop. The top is glued up and one of the templates is made for the end radius. Stay tuned........

CAD Drawing

Here is a better representation of what I propose for this project. However, as there was a supply glitch obtaining some beech wood, I had to go with a 4/4 white oak. (BTW 4/4 simply means 1" thick whereas 5/4 is 1 1/4" and 8/4 would be 2" thick)Early next week look good for the table coming together. Stay tuned for photos.

Rough Sketches

Introduction

Stay tuned here for the project soon to begin. A roughly 4foot x 6foot conference room table. It has been commissioned by a private individual, but I doubt he will mind the progress being posted as it comes together.
The wood we selected is Beech. It has a smooth, unobtrusive appearance and it is fairly flexible for a hardwood, since there will be some bent laminations.
